This session will focus on the practical skills needed for quick and basic in-house architectural photography. If you have a company digital camera and don't know how to use it past the point-and-shoot method, this class will help. We will review basics of digital photography, work through a simple exercise that will familiarize you with your camera's most important controls, discuss composition and workflow, then go out as a group to photograph buildings together! Results will be shared online and several handouts will help with further development beyond the class.  The tour will take us through a portion of Over-the-Rhine where we will make stops at Music Hall and Washington Park.  Happy Hour to follow with appetizers provided!

About the speaker:

Darrin Scott Hunter is the owner of Dish Design, a freelance brand identity design, architectural photography, and corporate training consultancy in Cincinnati focused on the architecture / engineering / construction (AEC) industries.  After completing the Bachelor of Architecture program at the University of Cincinnati's renowned College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) in 1997, he joined a large Cincinnati AEC design firm, and his work gradually shifted toward environmental graphics, media design management, and marketing.  Ten years later, he completed the Master of Design degree in graphics at DAAP and remained on full-time faculty there for another five years in the Foundations and Graphic Design departments before founding Dish Design in 2012.  As a teacher and professional architectural photographer with degrees in graphic design and architecture plus a decade of experience in the AEC industry, Mr. Hunter brings a rare perspective and breadth of disciplinary knowledge to SMPS audiences.
